All contents of the website are provided by Pfenninger Steels Ltd. or its agents and made available to all visitors to this website about the product range and the company. The handling of personal data of the site visitors follows strict regulations of Swiss law. We can adapt our data protection declaration at any time by publishing it on this website.
We take the protection of your data very seriously and treat your data confidentially and in accordance with current Swiss law. With this data protection declaration, we explain to you the data that we collect and how we use it.
Collection and processing of personal data
Personal data is all information that relates to an identified or identifiable person. Processing includes any handling of personal data, such as storing, disclosing, obtaining, deleting, recording, altering, destroying and using personal data, regardless of the means and methods used.
We process the necessary personal data in order to provide our services effectively and user-friendly as well as permanently, securely and reliably.
In principle, we process personal data only after the consent of the data subject, unless processing is permitted for other reasons, e.g. to fulfil a contract with the data subject and for appropriate pre-contractual measures to protect our predominantly legitimate interests, since the processing is evident from the circumstances or after prior information. In this context, we process in particular information that a data subject submits when contacting us - for example by letter post, e-mail, contact form, telephone or social media - or when voluntarily registering for a user account. We may store such information in our ERP or CRM system, in the software offered or with comparable tools.
We process personal data for the duration necessary for the purpose or purposes in question. In the case of longer-term storage obligations due to legal and other obligations to which we are subject, we restrict the processing accordingly. The personal data may be processed by third parties who process the personal data to be processed on our behalf. We always ensure that such third parties guarantee appropriate data protection.
Organisational and technical measures
We take appropriate and suitable organizational and technical measures to ensure data protection and data security. Despite appropriate and suitable organisational and technical measures, the processing of personal data on the Internet can always have security gaps. We can therefore not guarantee absolute data security.
Log files
For each visit to our website, we collect the following data, if they are transmitted from your browser to our server infrastructure, and store this data in log files:
- Date and time including time zone
- IP address of the web server and the user
- Browser and operating system of the user
- Target page (URL)
- Reference page (referrer)
- Query (URL Query String)
- HTTP request method
- HTTP status code
- Server Port
- Time in milliseconds that was needed to answer the request
Such data may constitute personal data. The data is necessary to provide our services permanently, securely and reliably and to ensure data security and thus in particular the protection of personal data - also by third parties or with the help of third parties.
Cookies
Cookies are text files that are stored on your computer or other end devices. The use of cookies helps us to analyse your use of the website, to improve the services and products offered as well as to improve security and prevent fraud. We distinguish between different types of cookies:
Cookies can be used for different purposes:
You can deactivate or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, either in whole or in part. Without cookies, our offer may no longer be fully available.
Tracking pixels
We use tracking pixels on our website. These are small images -- also from third parties whose services we use -- that are retrieved when you visit our website. Counting pixels can be used to collect the same data that is transmitted from your browser to our server infrastructure. Counting pixels are necessary to provide our services, including our website, in an effective and user-friendly manner as well as permanently, securely and reliably, in particular by analysing usage with a view to error correction and improvements.
Google Analytics
Pfenninger Steels Ltd. uses Google Analytics for the demand-oriented design and continuous optimization of our website - a web analysis service of Google Inc. (Google). The operating company of the Google Analytics component is Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043-1351, USA.
The user can object to the creation of user profiles at any time. For this purpose, the browser add-on must be downloaded and installed under the link https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de. This browser add-on informs Google Analytics via JavaScript that no data and information about visits to websites may be transmitted to Google Analytics. The installation of the browser add-on is considered by Google as a contradiction.
Further information and Google's applicable privacy policy is available at https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/ and http://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html. A detailed explanation of Google Analytics is available at https://www.google.com/intl/de_de/analytics/.
Google ReCAPTCHA
We use Google reCAPTCHA. The provider of this function is Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google reCAPTCHA enables us to check whether an entry on our website (e.g. contact form) is made by a person or by a computer program. We use Google reCAPTCHA to protect ourselves against misuse or spying by programs and spam emails.
The data collected for analysis is forwarded to Google Inc. (basis: EU-US Privacy Shield).
Further information about Google reCAPTCHA and the privacy policy of Google Inc. can be found at the following links:

Use of our webshop
Notifications and newsletters
Pfenninger Steels Ltd. may send notifications and newsletters by e-mail and other communication channels. If and to the extent that the dispatch is not necessary in order to fulfil a contract with the person concerned or to protect our overriding legitimate interests, you must expressly consent to the use of your e-mail address and other contact addresses so that no misuse by unauthorised third parties can occur (double opt-in). We may have notifications and newsletters sent by third parties or send them with the help of third parties.
Notifications and newsletters can contain tracking pixels or web links that record whether an individual notification or newsletter has been opened and which web links have been clicked. Such tracking pixels and web links record the use of notifications and newsletters. We need this statistical recording of usage, including success and reach measurement, in order to be able to offer notifications and newsletters effectively and user-friendly as well as permanently, securely and reliably based on the reading habits of the recipients.
We use the "NetMailer" platform, which is operated by PAWECO GmbH, to send our newsletter. PAWECO is a provider based in Switzerland and is subject to Swiss data protection law. The email addresses of our newsletter recipients and other relevant data are stored on PAWECO's servers in Switzerland and used exclusively for analysing and sending our newsletters. We have concluded a contract data processing agreement with PAWECO, in which PAWECO undertakes to protect our users' data in accordance with data protection regulations and to process it on our behalf.
We trust that PAWECO will treat our users' data securely and confidentially and will not use it for its own purposes or pass it on to third parties. If you do not wish to be analysed by NetMailer, you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. We provide you with a corresponding link in every newsletter message.
NetMailer is also used to analyse our newsletter campaigns. For this purpose, technical information such as time of access, IP address, browser type and operating system are recorded. When you open an email sent via NetMailer, a file contained in the email (known as a "web beacon") connects to PAWECO's servers. This makes it possible to determine whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links, if any, have been clicked on.
Data processing takes place on the basis of your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR. You can revoke this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The cancellation does not affect the legality of the data processing that has already taken place.
Services from third parties
We use the services of third parties - also abroad including the United States of America (USA) - in order to provide our services effectively and user-friendly as well as permanently, safely and reliably. Such services require your IP address, otherwise the corresponding content cannot be delivered or provided. Such services can - among other things with cookies, log files and tracking pixels - also process further data in connection with our offer and in connection with information from other sources for their statistical and technical purposes.
Rights of data subjects
Data subjects whose personal data we process have the right to information as well as the right to correct, delete or block the processed personal data. For this purpose and for questions regarding data protection, you can contact us at any time at the address given below:
